Mary Franks

Mary Lou "Marilu" Franks, age 90, formerly of West 24th Street, Erie, died peacefully at her home in Huntington Beach, CA, on January 3, 2014 after a long, full and happy life.

She was born in Uniontown, PA on August 6, 1923 the daughter of Charles and Grace Dillon. She moved to Erie in 1946 with her husband, Albert "Ray" Franks, who preceded her in death in 1983.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Kathleen Bryte, Ruth Franks and Betty Riley; three brothers, Charles, Robert and William Dillon; and her best friend of nearly 60 years Evalyn Marino.

She is survived by her son Daniel R. Franks and his wife Janet (Kacnerski) of Erie; her daughter Pamela D. Hamada and her husband David of Huntington Beach, CA; two grandchildren, Michael D. Franks and his wife Hannah of Leesburg, VA and Kristin E. Franks and her fiance Stephen Kobert of Pittsburgh, PA; and one great-granddaughter, Kendall Paige Franks, the most recent light of her life, born in August 2013. Further survived by a brother Francis Dillon and a wonderful niece, Joyce Kensill also of Erie; many wonderful friends in both Erie and California and several nieces and nephews.

While living in Erie, Marilu was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church. She worked for 37 years at Erie Technological Products as a personnel manager in the payroll department. She retired in 1987.

Friends are invited to call on the family on Saturday January 25, 2014 from 12 Noon until the time of the memorial service at 1:30pm with Rev. Robert Lewis officiated at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave).
