Frances Gilson Wagner Reynolds, of Erie, passed away on October 21, 2016 at Forestview Senior Living Center.
She was born in Erie, PA, November 13, 1919, daughter of the late Attorney Samuel L. and Helen Geary Gilson.
Frances was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and Bucknell University, Phi Beta Kappa. As her four active boys attended elementary school, she went on to teach kindergarten in the Erie, Iroquois and Millcreek School Districts and was the first kindergarten teacher at Luther Memorial School. Frances was a member and Past President of Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, past Regent of Presque Isle Chapter of DAR, and PEO Sisterhood Chapter Q. She was also a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Erie and in retirement was active with the Hamot Aid Society, Flagship Niagara League and the Erie Historical Society.
Frances enjoyed traveling, photography, and especially loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a patient person who loved getting everyone together.
The family would like to thank the staff at Springhill and her companions for their loving care of Frances.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 53 years, Aaron P. Wagner, her second husband, Wesley L. Reynolds and an infant brother, Samuel L. Gilson, III.
Frances is survived by four sons: Dr. David L. Wagner and wife Barbara, of Edinboro, PA, Thomas R. Wagner and wife, Nancy, of Annapolis, MD, Dr. William G. Wagner and wife, Linda, of Williamstown, MA and John R. Wagner and wife, Renee, of Richmond, VA. She is further survived by five grandchildren, Attorney Robert L. (Amy) Wagner, Attorney Katharine Wagner, Sienna (Jamie) Howlett-Wagner, Emma Wagner and Samuel Wagner as well as two great grandchildren, Joseph and Grace Wagner.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St. (at Powell Ave.) on Tuesday October 25th from 10am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
