Mrs. Mary Delores Cook-Evans daughter of the late Virtue Williamson-Cook and Edd Cook, was born on April 21, 1937 in Melvin Alabama.
Mary departed this life and went home to our Heavenly Father on March 9, 2017 at LECOM Senior Living Center in Erie Pa.
She was a graduate of Melvin High School and attended Alabama State College. Mary later relocated to Erie Pa. where she continued her education at Gannon University.
Mary worked at Gannon University, was a Teachers Aide at McKinley, Lord Corp., and she also worked at the National Cash Register in Erie Pa.
In 1960 Mary devoted her life to Jesus Christ and joined The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church were she sang in the choir.
On April 8, 1960 she married the love of her life Donald.
She was well known in the city of Erie. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
She enjoyed playing her scratch offs, drinking coffee/soda, sitting on the porch and just walking the neighborhood. Her loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald L. Evans, daughter Veronica, brother Roy Cook, sister-In-Law Hazel Atkinson-Cook, grandson Marcus A. Carlisle,
great granddaughter Keyonisha Howard.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories her brother Odell Cook, her daughter Donna Evans-Jordan (James), three granddaughters, Nicole Carlisle(Kelli), Latoya Carlisle, Keshia Evans (Tyrone), and a step-grandson Dijon Jefferson; great grandchildren JaTaviona Carlisle, Dijonte Carlisle, Keniah Carlisle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th St. on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.
