Mary Eller

July 19, 1933 — March 15, 2017

     Mary Louise Harvey Eller, 83, formerly of Elmwood Avenue, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Sarah Reed Senior Living.  She was born on July 19, 1933, in Dagus Mines, Pa., daughter of the late Thomas G. and Elizabeth Lipsey Harvey.  A resident of Erie most of her life, she graduated from Academy High School in 1951.  She was a secretary for the YMCA for six years, was a fire underwriter for Erie Insurance for ten years, and worked with her husband at Nationwide Insurance for many years.  Mary was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was named "1999 Woman of the Year" for her many years of commitment serving on Church Council and the Bereavement Committee and belonging to the Women of the ELCA.  She was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Zukor Club and East Erie Turners.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. Eller who died on their 59th wedding anniversary in 2013, and a son-in-law, William Schrimper.
     Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Schrimper; a son, Gary Eller and wife Brenda; a sister, Joan C. Wheeler; two granddaughters, Allyson Minor and husband Alan and Michelle Schrimper; two grandsons, Michael Eller and wife Cassie and Eric Eller and fiancé Katie Dorley; and four great-grandchildren, Joseph and Ella Minor and Lucas and Lydia Eller, all of Erie.  She is further survived by two nephews, Douglas Wheeler of New York and Gregory Eller and wife Amy of Montana; and a great-niece, Maize Eller of Montana.
     Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.  A service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2216 Peach Street, Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Erik Young officiating.  Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Bill Schrimper Scholarship Fund, in care of Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Erie, PA  16502.
