Mary Ellen Valimont

Mary Ellen Valimont age 58, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Erie on February 6, 1958, the daughter of the late LeRoy J. Valimont, Sr. and Carmella Bongiovanni Valimont.

She was a 1976 graduate of McDowell High School and a 1981 graduate of Villa Maria College. She also attended Gannon University, Our Lady of Peace School and St. Paul’s School.

She was employed as a Case Manager at Gertrude A. Barber Center and also as a Support Coordinator at Erie County Care Management until her retirement. She was a former minister with The Christian Spiritualist Church.

Mary Ellen was passionate about her faith and her pets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece Kristin Noelle Hanhold; a sister-in-law, Jory Jackson-Valimont and many beloved pets.

She is survived by a sister, Nina (Valimont) Hanhold and her husband Vincent of Fairlawn, Ohio; and a brother, Lee Valimont of Erie. She is further survived by, a niece, Stacey R. Valimont; three nephews, Michael V. Hanhold and his wife Kylee, Brian J. Hanhold and Stephen A. Hanhold; three grand nephews, Zeke, Jase and Oliver Hanhold and her beloved pets, Peter and Angela.

Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church 2801 W. 6th Street, Erie, Pa 16505 on Monday at 9:30 a.m.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
