Mary Diplacido

December 10, 1930 — August 1, 2013

Mary Ann DiPlacido, age 82, of Erie, passed away, Thursday, August 1, 2013 at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness.

She was born in Erie on December 10, 1930, a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Wisniewski Lipinski.

Mary Ann graduated from East High School.

She worked at the General Telephone Company for several years and then owned the Colony Gallery and Frame Shop.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church.

Mary Ann enjoyed walking at the Peninsula for many years and also loved art. She enjoyed oil painting, water color painting and china painting. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William DiPlacido, a daughter in law, Betsy Jo Diplacido, three brothers and a sister.

She is survived by a son, William S. “Bill” DiPlacido (Nancy); a daughter, Andrea Moran (Mike) both of Erie; six grandchildren, Kenneth Barbarini, William J. DiPlacido (Amy), Nicholas J. Barbarini (Laura), Christopher M. Diplacido (Mariah), Jeffrey J. DiPlacido and Michael P. Moran; 4 great grandchildren, Caedan, Micaela and Morganna DiPlacido and Luca Barbarini; and a sister, Elaine Straub (Bernard). She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there Monday morning at 10:30 with Rev. David Renne officiating.

Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
