Mary R. Claffey age 90, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.
She was born in Sharon, PA on December 1, 1923, a daughter of the late Elmer F. and Alice Donavan Claffey.
Mary graduated from Strong Vincent High School, she then went to work at Erie Technological Products where she was known as “M.R.” She was an executive secretary there until her retirement in 1979.
She moved to Florida in 1980 with her twin sister Marjorie Tillman and Marjorie’s husband Lee Tillman. They returned to Erie to be with their family in 2001.
Mary enjoyed bowling, archery, golf, crafts, bingo and gardening.
She was preceded in death by a sister Helen Leigey and brother James Claffey.
Mary is survived by her nephew Thomas Tillman who took care of her for many years along with several other loving nephews and nieces and caregivers Penny Rapp and Gay Kilmer.
She was also survived by her twin sister Marjorie Tillman who then passed away only 19 hours after Mary's passing.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Michael DeMartinis officiating.
Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Marjorie J. Tillman and Mary R. Claffey, twin sisters, age 90, both passed away on Thanksgiving Day November 27, 2014 within 19 hours of each other.
Marge and Mary came into the world together, lived and laughed, and left the world just hours apart.
