Mary Blakely

Mary R. Blakely of Erie, Pennsylvania passed away on December 11, 2020, at Twinbrook Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 83.
Mary was born on April 24, 1937 in Laurel, Mississippi to the late Anderson and Lillie Neil Jones Roberts.

Mary completed her primary education in Laurel Mississippi. She began her secondary education in Laurel but completed it in Erie, Pa, where she obtained her GED. Mary work in construction for Cross Contractors.

Mary loved the Lord and made him her personal savior at an early age. Mary enjoyed visiting many of the church families in Erie. As her health began to diminish she continued to serve the Lord and enjoyed listening to Bishop T.D. Jakes on tape and on television.

Mary’s first union produced a son Dexter Roberts (Meslica) of Erie, Pa. She later met and married Willie James Blakely and to this union they produced two sons Juan Blakely (Wanda) and Schuan Blakely of Erie. Mary is also survived by her sister Dorothy Lindsey (Claude-deceased) of Laurel, Mississippi; Brother in laws Vernon L Blakely, Erie; Carl (Diane) of Laurel, MS, Harold of Tuscaloosa, AL; Sisters in laws Lillian Ward (David), Gary, Indiana and Nedra Pruitt, of Ellisville, MS; 3 grandsons, Shawn Roberts (Tara) of Erie; Justin, of Erie; and Dai’toine Austin (Tavia) of Stafford, Virginia; and 3 granddaughters, Clricia Nicholson of Erie; Vanesha Nicholson of Erie and Brittany Frisco (Dazman) of Stafford, Virginia. She is further survived by 24 great grandchildren, great-great grands and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by both parents, her late husband Willie James and her beautiful granddaughter Sammica Rose Roberts. Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Downtown 602 West 10th Street, on Wednesday from 11am until the time of Service at 1pm. followed by burial in Erie Cemetery.
