Mary W. Bibbs, age 63, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2014 at Saint Vincent Hospital. She was born in Macon, Mississippi on October 19, 1950 daughter of the late Archie and Alice Robinson Wayne, Sr. She moved to Erie in 1951, coming from Chicago, IL. She attended Strong Vincent High School.
Mary had previously worked at Keystone Laundry for 15 years and Coin Laundry for three (3) years. She was a Certified Nurses’ Assistant and was employed at Fairview Manor for 19 years. Mary was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. She belonged to Orpha Chapter #21 of the Eastern Star. She loved reading, shopping, spending time with her grandchildren and family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandparents Otho and Susie Gavin Robinson Sr. and Julius and Alice Tate Wayne, a granddaughter Makila Wayne; a brother, Archie Wayne, Jr.; a sister, Marsha Hall; an Aunt Dora Gavin and four uncles, Henry and Otho Robinson, Jr., Sammy Wayne and Johnny Williams and several nieces and nephews.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her long life companion, Arthur Morgan; four children, Roseanne Wayne, Bruce Wayne(Tarra), Turquoise Morgan and Latasha Morgan; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; her 11 siblings, James Wayne(Pamela) of Fayetteville, N.C., Michael Wayne(Tamika) of Philadelphia, PA, Diane W. Stewart (Alvin), Larry Wayne, Debra Smith(Darrell), Jill Kirkland(Rodney), Jean Douglas (Lamont) , Terry Wayne(Lisa), Delois Bender(Donald), Billy Wayne(Tabatha),and Joseph Wayne(Sheah) all of Erie. She is further survived by two great grandchildren that she was raising Kimnazja and Deziyah Wayne ; an Aunt Maggie Williams, Youngstown, OH; three uncles, James Robinson(LaWanda) of Erie, Claude Robinson of Chicago and Tate Robinson of Brooksville, MS, a sister in law, Mayola Wayne, many nieces, nephews , cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Friends may call at Morning Star Baptist Church, 327 East 23rd Street, on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service there at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be there on Tuesday at 11a.m. with the Reverend Duane F. Hunter, Pastor of the Morning Star Baptist Church, officiating and the Reverend Amos Goodwine, Sr. Emeritus of the Morning Star Baptist Church, eulogizing. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th Street.
