Mary Beskid

Mary "Mitzi" Louise Essigmann Beskid, age 90, formerly of the Regency at South Shore, passed away Thursday January 31, 2013 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West.

She was born in Erie on March 6th, 1922, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Puscher Essigmann.

Mary graduated from East High School in the February Class of 1941. She served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946, where she was a Pharmacist's Mate. She was employed at General Electric and Pulakos Candy as a candy maker. She enjoyed flower gardening, garage sales, crosswords and bingo.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Beskid; her son James Beskid; her brothers, John, Adolph, William, Carl, Gustave and Martin Essigmann and her sister Elise Simmons.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Geckeler and husband Chip of Westerville, OH; her son, Stephen Beskid of Owings Mills, MD and her daughter-in-law Sharon Beskid of Erie.

Friends are invited to call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Avenue) on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of the service there at 1:00 pm in the Burton Westlake Chapel.

Burial will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery.
