Marvin Lewis-Murry

On December 2, 2024, at UPMC Hamot Hospital, Marvin was given his wings to fly to his heavenly home at 3:32 P.M.

He was the one and only child of Odessa Lewis-Murry and the late Eugene Lewis-Murry on September 16, 1969.

Marvin confessed hope in Christ and became a member of the Second Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Allen B. Green.

Marvin was a graduate of McDowell High School, the Class of 1987. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and completed for 4 years with an honorable discharge, and later worked several jobs in Erie County. 

Marvin was an avid football fan since childhood. His favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eli Tartt Sr., Odessa Braxton-Tartt and Ida Murry; his uncles, Johnny B. Lewis, W.T. Lewis and Eli Tartt Jr.; his aunts, Mildred Lewis, Rosie Pope, Flora Jimmerson, Susie Lewis and Sharon B. Tartt-Hopkins. 

Leaving to cherish Marvin’s memory, his mother, Odessa Mae Tartt Lewis-Murry; two daughters, Kristalyn Lewis-Murry (North Carolina) and Brianna McHenry (Erie, PA); son, Jordan Lewis-Murry (North Carolina); two grandchildren, Jaydalyn and Layla; uncles, L.C. Joe Bennett and Robert Lewis (Birmingham, Alabama); aunts, Sammie Tartt (Erie, PA), Johnnie, Willie Mae, Rosie and Leona (Birmingham, Alabama); cousins, Danny Meadows (Pittsburgh) and Kevin John (California) and other relatives near and far. 

A special thanks to Marvin’s cousin, Letitia Tartt-Roberts, who was by his side from childhood until his last days.

Friends are invited to the Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th St., on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
