Martha Wozniak

Martha M. Wozniak, 90, of Lake City; Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 following an extended illness.

She was born in Braddock, PA., on August 3, 1931, to the late John and Barbara Furda Tomko. Martha relocated from the Pittsburgh area to North Girard (Lake City) in 1949, graduating from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1950. She married her soulmate, Edward Wozniak on April 14, 1951 and celebrated 57 years raising four children. Ed passed from this world in 2008 to prepare the way for his loving wife. 

Martha worked at Marx Toys (where she met Ed), as a nurse’s aide at The Erie County Home and lastly for Burton Funeral Home in Girard for over 20 years as a greeter. Martha was a lifetime parishioner of St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Martha was preceded in death by an infant daughter Christine Marie in 1955 and a grandson Gregory Ryan in 1981.

She is survived by a daughter Anna Marie Wieder and her husband Curt of Allentown; three sons: John and his wife Susan of Coraopolis; David and his wife Carol of North Canton, Ohio, and Fran of Lake City; a brother Daniel Tomko and his wife Ruth of Lake City; six grandchildren ( Nickolas, Lukas, John, Christopher, Jeffrey and Andrew) , 2 great granddaughters, 5 great grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard on Monday from 10am until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon, at St. John's Catholic Church, 101 Olin Ave; Girard, PA with the Rev. Scott Detisch celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
