Mark Swanseger

Mark “Max” J. Swanseger, age 70, of Erie, Pa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 11^th at the Cleveland Clinic.  He was born September 24, 1950, to the late John and Jane Swanseger.

He graduated from Academy High in 1968 and Gannon University in 1972.

Mark worked for ERIE Insurance Group for 33 years spending most of those years in the Claims Division until his retirement in 2015.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Church.

He loved many things during his life including his family, friends, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Green Bay Packers, and the BEATLES.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joanne K. Swanseger (Oberacker), his son Philip Swanseger and his wife Pam of Erie and daughter Tracie Bauchle (Swanseger) and her husband Jay Bauchle of Lancaster, NY.  He had 4 granddaughters Sophia and Haley of Erie and Ella and Hannah of Lancaster, NY.  He is also survived by in-laws Richard and Stacie Oberacker, Murray Oberacker, Joyce and John Marucci of Erie, and Alma Snyder of North Ridgeville, OH, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Barbara Sue and Jerry Ropelewski, in-laws Kurt Snyder, Butch Martin, Audrey Martin Halliwill, niece Brenda Kress, nephew Brent Martin, and his close cousin Mike Boros Jr.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 West 26^th Street, on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 2 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 816 West 26^th Street, Erie, PA 16508 at 10 a.m.

Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
