Marie Miller

Marie Elizabeth (O’Connor) Miller, age 95, of Hollidaysburg, PA and formerly of Erie, died Friday, May 22, 2015. She was born in Erie, PA March 29, 1920, the daughter of the late Leo and Mae O’Brien O’Connor.

After raising a family of four children, Marie organized and conducted a child care service at the White Swan Civic Center from 1970 to 1980.

Marie was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church, the Presque Isle Senior Bowling League, Holiday Acres and Pleasure Golf Course, and enjoyed the senior swimming program at the Suburban YWCA. Marie was very athletic and continued to enjoy golf and swimming in her twilight years. She was also an avid card player like her husband, George.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Miller in 2008, her sister Mrs. Bernice Cole Hentsch, a brother, John G. O’Connor, and a son, Rodney Leo Miller.

Survivors include her son George R. Miller and his wife Carol of Indian River, MI; three daughters: Dianne Hite and her husband Paul of Altoona, PA; Marcia Cottrell and her husband Robert (deceased) of Erie, and Patti Allen and her husband David of Virginia Beach, VA; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.), Saturday, May 30th from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
