Marie W. McCray age 95, of Millcreek, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday December 13, 2013

She was born in McKean, on September 25th, 1918, the daughter of Henry and Ida Kuffer Zimmer.

Marie worked at the Millcreek School District as a baker in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Church Circle and West Lake Fire Department Auxiliary. She loved being outdoors and gardening, playing cards and was known for baking great pies. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James C. McCray; a sister Luella Haynes and two brothers Leonard and Harrison Zimmer.

She is survived by her son, James Scott McCray and wife Kim of McKean; her two daughters, Marilyn Carner and husband Shawn of Millcreek and Carol McCray of Millcreek; two grandchildren, Alicia Morton of FL and Bryan Henry of Pittsburgh and her great grandson, the joy of her life, Tyler Morton. She is further survived by a brother Henry “Hank” Zimmer Jr. and his wife Dorothy and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm and are invited to a service at Immanuel Lutheran Church 1002 Powell Ave. on Thursday December 19, at 11:00 am with Rev. Kimberly Hirsch officiating.

Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Marie’s caregivers from Great Lakes Hospice especially Tom and Regina and from Senior Helpers especially Crystal and Tom.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
