Marie Lockett

Marie A. Lockett, age 82, of Rochester, NY passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at Saint John’s Home. She was born in Erie, PA, October 12, 1940 to the late John and Dollister Sanders Bennett.

Marie Loved going to church and was a member of New Beginnings Apostolic Faith Church in Rochester, NY with Suffragan Bishop Ronald Mathis. Marie loved puzzles, walking, gospel music, word puzzle books, going to the YMCA for water aerobics, and having lunch with friends. She always enjoyed spending time and gathering with family at cookouts and working at the day care.  

Marie leaves to cherish her memory, her 7 children, Linda Rios, Larry Lockett, Cynthia Woods (Jonathan), Robert Lockett (Rita), Richard Lockett, Jeffery Lockett (Jeannie), and Rodney Lockett. 25 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Colleen Brown (Gary), and Shirley Johnson, and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and close family members.

In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lockett, and her siblings, Johnnie Mae Butts, and Elouise McKenney.

Marie moved into Saint John’s Nursing Home in November of 2018. Her family would like to thank the staff at Saint John’s Nursing on 4 South. Thank you all for taking such good care of our mother, and a very special dear thank you to Shalonda, Kimberly, Denika, Oneida, Kofi, Kathy, Darnise, Zamda, and Donna. You all loved, cared, and treated mama like a family member, mama was very happy. We love you all for bringing such joy, and putting a smile on her face everyday. Kimberly, your smile made our mama’s face light up every time you walked into her room. You all were truly a blessing to our mama and our family.

Friends are invited to call on the family Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Christian Ministries of the Apostolic Faith Church, 930 West 10^th Street, Erie, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown 602 West 10^th Street, Erie.
