Marie Elsesser

Marie Elsesser, age 97, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at St. Mary’s Home of Erie.

She was born in Erie on January 16, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Dinunzio Diplacido. Marie was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy and St. Vincent Nursing School. She loved nursing and served as a Nurse of Obstetrics for forty years at St .Vincent Health Center, retiring in June, 1983. Marie continued as a member of the Alumni and the Saint Vincent Auxiliary. In that capacity, she volunteered in the Pediatric and Obstetrical Clinic. She also served as a volunteer at both St. Mary’s Home and in the Blessed Sacrament School cafeteria as part of her service to her church.  Marie loved gardening with her husband Ted, a loving and gentle man who passed away in 2006 after 63 years of marriage. 

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Angeline Passerotti and four brothers, Michael, Louis, Fred and Joseph Diplacido. 

She is survived by several nieces and nephews. 

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10^th Street, Erie on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and are invited to a mass of Christian burial on Friday, September 14^th at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 W. 26^th St.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
