Marie Digangi

Marie G. (LaPlaca) DiGangi, age 87, of Erie passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Manchester Commons with her family at her side. She was born July 26, 1935 in Jamestown, NY the daughter of the late Adolph and Florence (Friedman) LaPlaca.

Marie was a longtime resident of Erie and had worked in the offices of Zurn Industries. Her faith was very important to her and she was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Marie also enjoyed baking and following the activities of her children and grandchildren. Family was very important to Marie

Besides her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles DiGangi; a brother Joseph LaPlaca; a nephew Joseph Lash, and a great-nephew, Michael Hoover.

Marie is survived by a daughter, Maria DiGangi and two sons; Cross DiGangi and his wife Sheila and Jody DiGangi and his wife Karen, all of Erie. She is the grandmother of Angelica DiGangi, Britney Wright, and Brianna DiGangi and the great-grandmother of Jasmyne, JuJu, and Leo. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Marie is the sister of Cheryl Hoover (Howard) of Erie and Linda Lash (Richard) of SC.

Marie’s family would like to Thank the staff of Manchester Commons and AseraCare Hospice for the wonderful care they provided her during her stay with them.

Friends are invited to call Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9^th & Liberty St. from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm and are invited to attend Funeral Services Monday at 10 am in Faith Lutheran Church, 5414 East Lake Rd., Erie. Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Pl., Erie, PA 16507.
