Marian Chrostowski

September 13, 1931 — June 1, 2017

Marian F. Becker Chrostowski, age 85, of Erie, passed away peacefully at Elmwood Gardens surrounded by her family on June 1st, 2017. She was born in Erie on September 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Weschler) Becker.

Marian attended St. Mary’s and East High School.  After graduation she went to work at Hammermill Paper Company until starting her family, when her main role became a Mother.  She then went to work at Dalhkempers for many years, retiring as the Supervisor of Housewares.  She was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Marian wore many hats: wife, mother, “Marian from housewares”, and served as “psychologist” to many friends and family.  She was a good listener and would always lend her ear and give back kind and sound advice.  She was loved by all.  Her favorite hat was that of “Grammie!” and when her grandchildren were with her, she always shined brighter. They made her world complete.

In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Chrostowski; infant daughter, Hollis Chrostowski; a brother, Charles Becker; three sisters, Evelyn Becker, Shirley Kiehlmeier, and Joanne Buscemi.

Marian is survived by a daughter, Caroline Publicover and her husband Barry, of Millcreek; two sons, Christopher Chrostowski and his wife Janet, and Gary Chrostowski and his wife Christine, all of Millcreek; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Julie, Alex, Nick, Maura, Carly, and Lindsey; her loving Godchild Denise Becker of FL; many nieces and nephews; and her BFFs of Mayfair Drive, Millie and Cheryl, who will miss her greatly.  The family expresses a big “thank you” to caregiver Sheila for going above and beyond, and all the staff at the Regional Cancer Center in Erie as well as the staff at Elmwood Gardens.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W.26th Street Erie. PA 16506.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Regional Home Health and Hospice 2564 Village Common Drive Erie PA 16506 .
