Maria "Cida" Gressang

Maria Aparecida “Cida” Scali Gressang, age 96, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 26, 2023.

She was born, the eldest of 5 siblings, in Sao Jose do Rio Pardo, Brazil on April 8, 1927, a daughter to the late Luiza (Martini) and Pedro Scali.

Cida was a school teacher for many years in a one room farm school in Brazil. She married Charles C. Gressang from Pittsburgh in Brazil in 1956 and moved to Springfield (Delco), PA, where she lived for 35 years before moving to McKean in 1991.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Gressang, Jr.; sisters, Maria Celidia Scali Mazzili and Maria Celina Scali; a brother, Pedro Celso Scali; as well as a stepson, Charles C. Gressang III.

Cida is survived by two daughters, Maria L. Gressang Siefert (John), of McKean, and Suzanne M. Gressang Kahn (Andy), of Glenelg, MD; a stepson, John R. Gressang, of California; a sister, Maria Sirley Scali, of Sao Paulo; grandchildren, Andrew Siefert (Lindsay), of Ithaca, NY, John Siefert (Morgan), of Womelsdorf, PA, Lisa Kahn Hall (Tim), of Churchton, MD, and Florence Kahn, of Philadelphia, PA; eight step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, Lydia Hall, Wesley Hall, Miles Siefert, and Rowan Siefert. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews in Brazil.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Burton Quinn-Scott Funeral Home, West Ridge, 3801 West 26^th Street. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
