Maria Agresti

March 18, 1942 — January 3, 2023

Maria Elena Agresti, age 80, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family after a 12 year battle with dementia, before finally succumbing to complications from COVID. She was born on March 18, 1942 in Erie, as the only daughter of the late Alfred A. and Rose (Carlo) DeNisco.

Maria was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School in 1959. She worked for Security Peoples Bank before marrying her beloved husband Atty. Charles D. Agresti on August 26, 1967.

Maria found her true calling in life as a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Her kindness extended to adopting countless dogs, cats and birds. She was also thought of as second mom by many of her sons’ friends. She enjoyed competing as a tournament racquetball player and later as an avid golfer. Her summers were spent on Lake Erie boating with her family and many friends. In the winters, she was a full-time hockey mom, driving hours on end traveling with her sons to games.

Maria loved to laugh and make others laugh. Her practical jokes and good natured ribbing was a sign that she really liked you. Never one to pull punches, you always knew where you stood with her. She will forever be remembered for her fierce loyalty to family and friends and her legendary Sunday 5 course pasta dinners, with homemade sauce, meatballs and stuffed artichokes.

She is survived by her devoted husband Chuck, who, in spite of her debilitating illness and the need for 24 hour care, never once considered care outside the home. She is also survived by her son Atty. David Agresti, his girlfriend Jena, and his children Joseph, Caroline and William and son Atty. Michael Agresti, his wife Helen (Uht) and their children Natalie Rose, Bella Maria, Charles, Luciana, and Francesca. She is also survived by Tim Trambley, who was like a third son to her and brother to David and Michael.

The family would also like to thank Debbie Schwab and Katie Merriam for the devoted and loving care they provided to Maria and support they gave to Chuck.
