Margie Carter

January 25, 1925 — September 11, 2017

Margie Carter, age 92 of Erie, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital.

She was born January 25, 1925 in Wayne County, MS, a daughter of the late Buddy and Viola Farrell McGill.

Margie loved spending time with family. She had a big heart and raised her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren in addition to her own.  She was a Deaconesses and past member of the Victory Christian Center and First Good Samaritan AME Church. Margie loved to cook for family, especially pound cake and bread pudding.  She also enjoyed gardening, shopping, watching the cooking channel and her favorite Soaps and sports.

In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her husband Mack Carter, her siblings Irma Ruth McGill Rankin, Ollie McGill, Betty McGill, Fanny McGill, M. L. McGill, Son McGill, and Rose McGill.

Survivors include her five children Nina Stewart (Charles), George Carter (Geral), James Carter, Roy Carter (Dorothy), and Tony Carter; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is further survived by her brother C. W. McGill and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the First Good Samaritan Church, 3209 Pennsylvania Ave. on Saturday Sept. 16, 2017 from 9am until the time of the service at 10:30am with Rev. Darrold Hobson officiating.
