Margaret Makay

Margaret Makay, age 96, of Millcreek passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at LECOM Senior Living.

She was born in Punxsutawney, PA on August 7, 1924, the daughter of the late Stephen and Eva Macura Kollar. 

Margaret was a devoted housewife and mother and enjoyed gardening, tending to her rose bushes and polka dancing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Andrew Makay; three daughters, Mary Makay, Carol Lewis and Sue Makay; a son, Andrew Makay, a grandson Michael Arron Makay; four brothers, Bill, Steve, Johnny, and Joe; and four sisters, Helen Berdenerch, Mary, Annie and Katie Nipovier; and a daughter-in-law Nancy Makay.

She is survived by her children, George Makay and his wife Sharon, Michael Makay and his wife Beth, and Debra Harris and her husband Phil; son in law, Michael Lewis; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26^th Street, on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Private burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
