Margaret Leonheart, age 91, formerly of Girard, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at Sunrise Assisted Living.
She was born in McKeesport, Pa. on February 24, 1923, a daughter of the late George J. and Mary K. Kerston Adams.
Margaret attended Springfield Schools, and was an inspector for Girard Model Works. She also worked at Erie Mop and Ringer for many years.
Margaret was a wonderful homemaker, cook and baker. She was a member of the Federated Church of East Springfield.
Margaret loved music, played the piano and the accordion, by ear. She was also an antique collector.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mephis P. Leonheart, three sisters: Mary Johnson, Christine McCullough, Pauline Adams, and a brother John Q. Adams.
Survivors include brothers and sisters: George Adams of Cal., Betty Antolik and her children Thomas, Tim and Mary Jane of Erie, Raymond Adams of NY, Dolores Adams whom was her care giver, of Erie, Richard Adams of Arizona, many nieces and nephews, and her good friends: Ruth Warner of E. Springfield and Sally Bojarski, who was also her care giver. Further survived by two children: Buddy and Sandra of N.C.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street, Girard on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and are invited to services there on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Reverend Ed Huntley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Federated Church of East Springfield, 11995 Main Street, East Springfield, PA 16411, or VNA Hospice, 1305 Peach Street, Erie PA 16501.
