Margaret Ann Knight, 89, of Erie, PA (Millcreek) was taken up to the Lord on November 28, 2021. She was known as “Peggy” to friends and family. Peggy was born in Rochester NY on December 16, 1931, to the late Harold and Frances Riley Heldt.
Peggy was a 1950 graduate of Millcreek High School and in addition to being a homemaker, wife and mother, she also worked at Bucyrus Erie and later retired from Gannon University. She was a long-time member of the St Jude the Apostle Church and most recently a member of Our Lady of Peace Church (OLP) where she was very active in the “Why Catholic” program. Over the years, Peggy volunteered her time at the Florence Crittenden home, Millcreek Youth Athletic Association, Manchester Commons Auxiliary and Emasus Soup Kitchen, among other civic organizations. She always cherished her time with her family, including her husband, children, grandchildren, great granddaughters and her nieces. For years Peggy was a regular at OLP, Cathedral Prep and Gannon sporting events. She looked forward to her her daily calls with her daughter and in her free time, she also enjoyed reading, golf and getting together to play cards with her long-time friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 66 years, Charles (“Chuck”), her mother and father, her brother, Richard Heldt and sister Barbara Lee.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth of Erie, a son, Charles and his wife Renee of Erie, two grandsons, Dr. Jordan Knight, Pittsburgh PA and Cory Knight, his wife Kara and their twin daughters, Eleanor and Maxine Knight, Fairview, PA.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services 3801 W. 26th Street on Wednesday, December 1st from 4 to 6 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday at Our Lady of Peace Church 2401 W 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu flowers, memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital of Erie 1645 W. 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or St Jude’s Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family would like to recognize the special caregivers at Manchester Commons for their love and care.
