Margaret C. DeMarco, of Erie, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Westlake Woods Assisted Living. She was born in Erie the daughter of the late Ferdinando and Frances (Trolli) DeMarco and later moved to Conneaut, Ohio where they lived for over 15 years before returning to Erie.
On July 1, 1942 she married her husband Albert DeMarco and they were happily married for 66 years until his death in 2008. They were the proud parents of triplets; Paul R. DeMarco; Paula M. Rathmann (Doug Rathmann), all of Erie and Paulette L. Rinderle of mentor, OH. She is also survived by a sister, Carmelita Ferrio of Madison, OH and three grandchildren; Brian Rathmann (Stacy), Steve Rathmann, and Rene Rinderle (Heather-Renee). Also surviving are 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Albert, Margaret was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Gloria Ross, Clara Valenti, and Angeline Chicatelli along with 4 brothers; Alphonso, Romeo, Robert, and Curtiss DeMarco; and a son-in-law, Louis Rinderle.
Margaret was a longtime volunteer at St. Vincent Hospital and was also a Eucharistic minister for both the hospital and her parish of Blessed Sacrament. She and her husband began at Blessed Sacrament when Msgr. Geiger used to celebrate mass in a tent before the church was built. She was a member of Catholic Charismatic Word of Life Center at St. Mark’s and also belonged to a prayer line.
Margaret also loved working in her garden and growing her two favorite flowers, mums and roses. She also liked to keep active by walking to church, taking trips and bicycling.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Tuesday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
