Margaret Budny

Margaret J. Budny, age 92, of Erie, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Sarah Reed Senior Living. She was born in Erie on December 15, 1930, daughter of the late Frank & Hilda Turner Wyneken.

She graduated from Strong Vincent High School and, later in life, earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Edinboro University after attending night school for many years. She was the Aquatic Director of the Glenwood YMCA for 25 years and took pride in teaching people of all ages how to swim.

In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her husband Stanley J. Budny in 1978, her only sister, Anne, in the Fall of 2022 and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Kelly Griffith.

She is survived by her children: Greg Budny (Kristine) of Erie, Ann Bahri (Jay) of North Port, FL, Carolyn Goetz of Barefoot Bay, FL, Mark Budny of Apex, NC, and Sue Griffith (Jim) of Erie. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call on the family Wednesday February 22, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown 602 W. 10th Street, Erie. A funeral service will be held there Thursday, February 23, at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
