Margaret Birkner

Margaret Luke Birkner age 79, of Lake City passed away Friday September 5, 2014 at her residence

She was born in Suffix, Virginia on July 10, 1935, a daughter of the late Sherman and Carrie Carr Luke.

She was a graduate of Chuckatuck High School and She worked for Brook Park in Lake City for over 28 years and had been President of the union there. She was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church. Margaret enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting. She especially loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Alfred J. Birkner in January 2014 and a sister, Marilee.

She is survived by a son Mark L. Birkner of Girard and a daughter Linda Diane Miller and her husband Charles of Boiling Springs, PA; five grandchildren: Ryan, Darren and Nathan Birkner, Carrie Stine, and Paul Miller; three great granddaughters: Chloe Birkner, Hailey Birkner, and Charliee Stine and a sister, Marion. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home 525 Main St. East, Girard Tuesday 4 -7pm and are invited to attend services 10am Wednesday at the funeral home All Faiths Chapel with Reverend Brock Beveridge officiating. Burial will be in Girard Cemetery.
