Marabelle Port

Marabelle E. Port, age 93, formerly of Girard, passed away, Thursday August 27, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She was born in Erie, PA on November 17, 1921, a daughter of the late John F. and Evelena Whitney Barron.

Marabelle attended Fairview and Millcreek High Schools and worked as a cook and Cafeteria Manager in the Girard School District for 25 years. She was a member of the Girard United Methodist Church, Elk Valley Garden Club, Girard School Employee Retirement Club, Wies Library Senior Citizens’ Group and the 65r’s of Girard Methodist Church. Marabelle was a former member of Rosalind Rebekah Lodge No. 207, where she was a Past Noble Grand and received the Degree of Chivalry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wray E. Port and her brother, Robert L. Barron.

She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Thompson of Waxhaw, NC and Rebecca Lambert and her husband, David of Lexington, SC; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

No calling hours will be observed. A graveside service will be announced at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard.
