Mae Sherman

Mae Frances Sherman age 81, of Erie, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at home. She was born in Lake City, FL. On February 3, 1932, a daughter of the late Budd and Leila Jones Rentz. She was married to the late Levi Sherman Jr. and worked for well over thirty years as a presser with Franks cleaners. She also worked more recently at Rainbow Connections. For many years Mae was a devout member at Second Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including President Pastor Aid Captain on women’s day (when they had them in the 80’s), Sunday school regular attender who was dependable and highly respected. She enjoyed playing bingo and other games of chance and loved being with family and friends. In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by a son, Frank Sherman Jr. and a daughter, Diane Salvi. Mae is survived by a sister, Alverteen Pruitt of West Palm Beach, FL., along with four grandchildren, Katrina Sherman of Denver, CO., Janet Sherman and Demond Sherman both of Erie, and Frank Michael Lester of Pittsburgh, Pa. She also leaves 10 great- grandchildren, Alexis and Carolyn Sherman of Erie, Deshayla, D’Lachanique and Demajihania Sherman along with Javon Carr, De’Mere Strickland and Dariah Strickland, and Kadijh and Kira Laster. She also leaves a great - great grandchild, Derricklee Taylor. Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie Pa., 16502 on Saturday from 9:00 am till the time of service there at 11:00 am with The Reverend Allen Green officiating.
