M. Lucille Armagost Grabofski, 86, formerly of Chelsea Ave, Erie and Ridgway, PA, died on Tuesday May 10, 2016 in Wilmington, NC. She was born on September 3, 1929 in Ridgway, PA, daughter of the late James Gordon and Rose Groeger Armagost.
A 1947 graduate of Ridgway High School, she was an Interviewer for the Commerce Department of the U.S. Government for twenty years, retiring in 1991. Lucille also worked for Olson & Larson Insurance Agency in Ridgway, was a Resistor Tester for the stack pole industry in St. Mary's, PA and was Secretary to the Superintendent of Operations at the Elliott Co. in Ridgway for ten years.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Erie, where she was active with Project Dignity and the Social Ministry Committee. She served on church council and was a former member of the Mary Martha Circle. She was also a volunteer with the Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) at St. John's and a member of the Siebenbuerger Ladies Auxiliary. Lucille was an accomplished artist and seamstress and she enjoyed cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William J. Grabofski (2014), her stepfather Donald Stickle, a brother and two sisters.
Survivors include her son John Grabofski of Fairview, PA, her brother Jim Armagost of Ridgway, PA, three granddaughters, Melissa Chalot of San Francisco, CA, Kristin Reisinger of Charlotte, NC and Michele Connelly of Wilmington, NC, as well as six great-grandchildren, Lena, Lola, Claira, Chace, Scarlett and Harris and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at St. John's Lutheran Church Chapel 2216 Peach Street, Erie, PA on Monday May 16th, from Noon until the time of service in the Sanctuary at 1 p.m. The Rev. Erik Young will officiate. Additional calling will be held at graveside in Oakmont Cemetery, Ridgway, PA, on Tuesday from Noon until the time of a committal service there at 1 p.m. The Rev. Stephen Fair of St. John's Lutheran Church, Johnsonburg, will officiate.
