M. Gene Dolloff Quinlan Minor, 87, of Erie, died Mon., April 22, 2013 at Forestview Health Care Center. Formerly of W. 39th St. and of Knoyle Rd. She was born Aug. 4, 1925 in Kane, PA, daughter of the late Charles Ward and Mabel Ahfield Peterson Dolloff. She graduated in 1943 from Warren High School. A longtime resident of Erie, Gene was a Library Aide for the Erie School District for 7 1/2 years retiring in 1979. She was a member of Luther Memorial Church and had been a member of the former Bethany Lutheran Church and its Dorcas Society. She was also a member of SVEA Lodge, No. 296, VASA Order of America, enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with friends.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Raymond J. Quinlan in 1978, her second husband, Ralph E. Minor in 2004, a son, Mark Dennis Quinlan in 1970, a granddaughter, Janet Phillips, and a stepson, Randy Minor.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Bonaminio of Erie; a son, Bruce Quinlan and wife Ruth of Erie, a son-in-law, Ron Bonaminio of Erie; a stepdaughter, Susan Melgaard and husband Alan of Fredericksburg, VA; two stepsons, James Minor and wife Jean of Waterford and Tom Minor of Mayhill, NM; six grandsons, Mark Quinlan and wife Laura of Miami, FL, Nathan Quinlan and wife Danielle of Pgh., PA, Matthew Bonaminio and Gary Cirello and wife Linda, all of Erie, Andrew Melgaard of Louisville, CO and Mark Melgaard and wife Kristi of Rockville, MD; six granddaughters, Heather Quinlan and Debra Bonaminio, both of Erie, Tammy Avery of Beaufort, SC, Michelle Sauser of Waxahachie, Tx., Kersti Menchaca of Chandler, AZ and Katie Purdy of Tucson, AZ; and several great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St. A service will be held at Luther Memorial Church, 225 W.10th St., Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Coleman officiating. Inurnment will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens Friday at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church, 225 W. 10th St., Erie, PA 16501; or to the Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Place, Erie, PA 16507.
