M. Barbara Evans

M. Barbara Evans, age 69, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at her home following and extended illness.

Barbara was born in Erie on September 5, 1949 daughter of the late Heyd and Rosemary Heustis Wallower. Barbara attended McDowell High School, Erie Business College and Erie Institute of Technology. She retired from Spectrum Control in Fairview and had worked over the years for various local companies.

Over the years Barbara volunteered for many local organizations. She was a Merritt Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America; and Explorer Advisor to Troop 151; was secretary for the MYAA and belonged to both the West Lake Fire Department and Lawrence Park Fire Department Auxiliaries. She also wrote a column for the Millcreek Sun newspaper.

Barbara enjoyed knitting and crocheting and designed many of her own creations. She also enjoyed watching Penn State Football and NASCAR.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Hyde Ingro and a grandson Aaron J. Evans.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 47 years Walter H. Evans; three sons Robert (Wendy) Evans of MI, David (Becky) Evans and Michael Evans, both of Erie. She is further survived by seven grandchildren Jonathan Destiny, Zachary, Gabrielle, Kelly, Kerry and Matthew; two great-grandchildren, James and Jaylee; and a niece Danielle Bourque. Two special friends Marylynn Ecker and Karen Proper also survive.

Friends may call on Sunday from 3:00 until the time of the service at 6:00 pm with Rev. Michael DiMartinis officiating.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
