Luther Cruzzette Gibbs, III

Luther Cruzzette Gibbs, III, age 72 passed away on Thursday July 18, 2024 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie on January 30, 1952 to the late Luther C. Sr. and Ella B. Wilson Gibbs.

Luther graduated from Tech Memorial High School and majored in social work at North

Bellmore College in North Bellmore, NY. He worked for over 25 years at Erie Plating before retiring. Luther enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking with his daughter, and he was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Felecia M. Henderson and a brother Ricky V. Gibbs and Kevin Glover.

Luther is survived by his wife of 53 years Elder Mary Kathryn Page Gibbs; daughter Fatima A. Gibbs of Erie; sons Luther C. Gibbs IV (Jennifer) of St. George, WV and Jameel R. Gibbs (Miyesha) of Erie; sisters, Paula McLaurin of Erie, Katrinka Glover of Ohio and brother Dana Gibbs (Rose Ross) of Erie, Terre Glover of Erie and Torry Mitchell-El (Colby) of Erie.

He’s further survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 28 godchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PL, Memphis, TN 38105.
