Luther Gibbs

Luther C. Gibbs, Sr., age 85 of Erie, passed away at home on Monday August 1, 2017.

He was born in Laurel, Mississippi, a son of the late Luther C. and Sara Hicks Gibbs.

Luther attended East High School, and received his GED.

He was a machine assembler and worked for Bucyrus Erie for 28 years, and Erie Press Systems for 8 years.

Luther enjoyed fishing and playing solitaire.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Marzette Gibbs, John Hill, William Gibbs; his son Ricky Gibbs, Sr., and grandson Ricky Gibbs, Jr., and son Kevin Glover.

Survivors include his former wife Ella Gibbs, daughter Paula McLaurin, sons Luther Gibbs, Jr., Dana Gibbs, Torrey Mitchell, Terry Glover, daughter Trinka Glover; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, Bella Dyson.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10^th Street, on Friday from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m. with Elder Mary Kathryn Gibbs officiating.
