Lue Virgia House, age 87 of Erie, stepped into eternity on Sunday, January 10, 2016, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Houston, Miss. on January 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Jeff Robertson Brown and Lizzie Grey Brown.
Lue retired after 22 years of working with students with special needs in the Erie City School District.
Lue’s generosity along with others, provided 686 meals and more for hungry boys and girls around the world through the Feed the Children Program.
Lue enjoyed gardening, and throughout her life was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always keeping her family as the priority in her life.
She was a life-long and faithful member of the Second Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Columbus House, Sr., a son, Columbus House, Jr., daughter, Janet House, and her only sibling, Mary Virgie Brown Shoemaker.
Lue is survived by three daughters: Barbara Holmes (Ronald), Dorothy House, and Phyllis Tate, a son, Kirk Lamont House (Gertrude), 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is further survived by eight nieces and nephews: Allie Porter, Jr., Mary Lois Porter, Wilsker House, Monroe House, Jr., Tommy Brown, Charles Brown, Francine Brown and Sharon Getties Johnson; special friends; Miss Frances Buggs, and Miss Buelah Gore and a host of other friends and family members.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and are invited to the funeral service at Second Baptist Church, 757 East 26th Street on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Allen Green officiating.
Burial in Erie Cemetery.
