Lucius Benjamin Richard Stuczynski, “Big Lu,” 4 months old, of Erie, passed away peacefully with his loving parents holding him in their arms on Saturday November 3, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic. Lucius is the son of Philip R. and Nicolena M. Husted Stuczynski of Erie.
Lucius was born on June 19, 2018 in Cleveland at Hillcrest Hospital. His life was beautiful. Although filled with illness we could not contain, he knew nothing but happiness and laughter around him for his whole life. Lu taught so many about life, love, and faith and brought thousands together in prayer. He was a gift to all he touched, whether they met him or not, an angel on Earth. Although he didn’t know it, he encouraged countless people to work together and better themselves. He always had superheroes around him, whether comic book or hospital staff, and was surrounded by love. He enjoyed listening to live music by his bedside, smiling at his caregivers, his sister's voice, and giving his mom and dad cuddles.
He is preceded in death by his paternal great grandfather Charles Priestap and his maternal great grandparents James and Jeanne Husted; additionally, a great aunt, great uncles, and second cousin.
Survivors include his loving parents Philip and Nicolena, his older sister Haylen, grandparents Jon and Angela Husted and Anthony and Pamela Stuczynski, great grandparents Nick and Helen Pappas, Bunny Priestap, and Richard and Kathleen Stuczynski; additionally, four aunts, four uncles and three cousins all survive and will forever be impacted by Lucius’s life.
Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie, PA 16510 on Monday November 12, 2018 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm. A funeral service will then be held at the funeral home’s All Faith’s Chapel on Tuesday November 13th at 10 am, led by Pastor Mark Droll with burial to follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
The family respectfully requests that no flowers be sent in memory of Lucius. Instead, they are asking for donations to the fund for Big Lu’s Big Journey. There are a number of ways that they will look to honor and remember Lucius and his NICU experience, as they have ideas on how to memorialize Lu but have not had enough time for solid plans yet. Any donations to Big Lu’s Big Journey will contribute to that mission.
