Lucille Pauline Peterson Wisinski, age 96 passed away on September 27, 2022 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Erie on August 18, 1926 to the late Carl Peterson and Amelia Lichtenwalter Peterson Fales.
She wanted her obituary to read “She came…She went”, but there was so much more that made up Lucille’s 96 years. We would tell her that no matter what anyone said about having the best mother it could not be true because we had the best!
Lucille graduated from Academy High School in 1944 and then graduated from the St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1947. She was a member of the U.S. Nursing Cadet Corp. She worked as a Registered Nurse for St. Vincent Health Center for 25 years as a night nurse on 8 North known as Pete, retiring in 1986.
Lucille was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ruth Guild, Bereavement Committee and Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Village at Luther Square. She enjoyed reading, walking, knitting, crossword puzzles, and many TV programs ranging from news to sitcoms, football and the Hallmark Channel.
Lucille loved and supported her children and grandchildren and was so happy to spend time with them. She had her quick wit to the end. She left a void in their lives that will never be filled. As she was with us as we took our first breaths, we had the privilege to be with her as she took her final breath.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Michael F. Wisinski; daughter, Doris Ann Wisinski Baranello; stepfather, George Fales and sister, Helen J. Whalen Conner.
Lucille is survived by her daughters, Diane Wisinski, Deborah Wisinski and Patricia Wisinski, all of Erie; and son, Michael J. Wisinski (Carol) of Charlottesville, VA. She is further survived by grandchildren, Amelia Wisinski, Scott (Rosalia) and Joshua Baranello and Kendra Wisinski (Matt Kiener); great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Gino and Rocco Baranello; two step-grandchildren, Nikki and David Butler; god-daughter, Sharon Diringer; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
