Lucie Arndt

Lucie Arndt, age 103, of Erie, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Westlake Woods Senior Living. She was born in Erie, February 22, 1920, to the late Herbert Groome and Bessie Yarger. Lucie was a graduate of Academy High School.

She worked as a certified swimming instructor, and a World War II ambulance driver for the American Red Cross. Lucie worked for Talon Zippers early in her life, and as a secretary through much of it. She sang with the choir when she attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and sang in the Millcreek Chorus. She sewed over 4000 quilts for Patchwork of Love with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Lucie loved going square dancing and boating with her late husband James.

She is survived by her children, Denise Arnold, Doug Arnold and his wife Jeannie, and Lana Huhn. Lucie is further survived by her stepchildren, Brenda Arndt Bailey, Sharon Arndt Pamula, Kimberly Arndt Kuntz, Darlene Arndt, and Michelle Arndt-Vickey. She is survived by her grandchildren, Kevin Arnold and his wife Ana, Christian Arnold, and a great granddaughter Keira Johnson. She is further survived by many step grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lucie is preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Arnold, Paul Kosack, James Arndt, and a brother Clifford Groome.

Friends are invited to call on the family Monday, April 3, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1002 Powell Ave, Erie. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10^th Street, Erie.
