Louise Loesel

Louise Kennedy Loesel, age 87, of Erie, PA died peacefully at home on December 3, 2105 surrounded by her loving family. A daughter of the late Fred Ingham Kennedy and Irene Roth Kennedy, Louise was born on June 28, 1928, in Erie.

She graduated from Mercyhurst Preparatory School and attended Mercyhurst College. Louise was an accountant for the family business Loesel-Schaaf Insurance Agency for 25 years. A member of First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Erie Yacht Club and Delta Sigma Sorority, Louise was a beloved member of the community. An avid sailor, Louise also enjoyed playing tennis, reading, knitting, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and family gatherings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. Kennedy and Fred R. “Ted” Kennedy.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Richard O. Loesel, two sons: David K. Loesel and his wife Micki; Douglas A. Loesel and his wife Jody: all of Erie, a daughter Amy L. Mitchell and her husband Kent, of Waterford; and six grandchildren: Andrew Mitchell (Beth) of Waterford: Kelsey Whittelsey (Lee): Ryan Mitchell (Filomena): Julie Vanchieri (Dominic) all of Erie: Katie Loesel (Lucas Cady) of Richmond, VT and Lieutenant Leigh Loesel, USN (Kristy) of Fallon, NV. Also surviving are great grandsons Ethan & Gavin Mitchell and great granddaughter Elouise Whittelsey.

Friends are invited to call on the family on Friday December 11th from 10am until the time of the memorial service at 12 noon at Wayside Presbyterian Church, 1208 Asbury Road, with Rev. Keith Sundberg officiating. Private burial in Erie Cemetery.
