Louise Llewellyn

Louise Jewett Llewellyn, age 97, formerly of Luna Lane in Millcreek, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at The Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center where she resided.

She was born June 4, 1915 in Stoneham, MA the daughter of the late Walter Elmer Jewett and Ethel Aurelia Tobey Jewett and during her youth resided in Melrose, MA.

Mrs. Llewellyn was graduated from Simmons College, Boston, MA in 1937. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a secretary to two prominent Boston physicians. She returned to college in the 1970's and received her teacher certification from Mercyhurst College. She taught in the business department of McDowell High School from 1973-1980, when she retired.

Mrs. Llewellyn was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Fairview. She was a former member of the Fund Distribution Committee, United Way of Erie County, the Hamot Aid Society, and the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center Board of Directors. She was a member and Past-President of Phi Theta Xi Sorority, Melrose, MA and the Erie, PA Branch of the American Association of University Women.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Richard Llewellyn.

She is survived by her son, David Jewett Llewellyn, and his wife, Elizabeth Jane Llewellyn of Atlanta, GA and their sons, Christopher Sayre Llewellyn and Jarrett Price Llewellyn of West Hollywood, CA; and her son, Thomas Sayre Llewellyn, and his wife, Carmen America Llewellyn of Washington, DC.

No calling hours will be observed. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday at 1:00 pm at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1070 Dutch Rd., Fairview, PA. Rev. Sabeth Fitzgibbons will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1070 Dutch Rd., Fairview, PA 16415 or to Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center, 227 West 22nd Street, Erie, PA 16502.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street.
