Loretta Hanna

May 7, 1921 — July 20, 2012

     Loretta L. Shover Hanna, 91, formerly of McKean, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at Manchester Presbyterian Lodge.  She was born May 7, 1921 in Erie, daughter of the late John F. and Loretta Bebernitz Shover.  She graduated from McKean High School and in 1970 took nurses aid training graduating first in her class.  Loretta was a very active member of Sterrettania Alliance Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, prepared the elements for communion, was a member and past-president of Alliance Women, a youth leader, served on the church board, and as a delegate to general assembly and district conferences.  She was a talented sewing artist, making dresses for her daughter, her granddaughters, friends, and missionary Judy Thompson.  She also made many bridesmaid's dresses.  She enjoyed planting, picking, and canning the treasures from her garden.  She made many, many jars of jams and jellies.  Loretta had a heart for God, reading God's word daily and as a prayer warrior.
     Survivors include two sons, James A. Hanna and wife Linda of McKean and John A. Hanna and wife Carole of Fairview; a daughter, Faith Heath of McKean; a sister, Ruth Hinkson of Erie; five grandchildren, Todd Hanna and wife Beth of Girard, Daphyne Davis and husband Douglas of Lititz, PA, Sarah Hanna of Fairview, Daniel Heath and wife Patricia of Batavia, IL and Elizabeth Haskins and husband Christopher of Albion; nine great-grandchildren, Hannah and Mykenzie Davis, Dylan and Carleigh Hanna, Nicole and Rachel Heath, and Daythan, Leah and Naomi Haskins; several nieces and nephews; and her church family. 
     Five brothers, Earl, John, Harold, Chester and Lincoln Shover; and a son-in-law, William Heath, preceded her in death.
     Friends may call Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St.  Additional visitation will be held at Sterrettania Alliance Church, 6750 West Rd, McKean, Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service there at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Mark Droll will officiate.  Burial will be at Valley Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Sterrettania Alliance Church, 6750 West Rd., McKean, PA 16426.
