Loraine S. Wambsgans age 87 of Erie, passed away quietly at UPMC Hamot on Saturday, December 31, 2016. She was born in Erie, PA on May 29, 1929 a daughter of the late William and Josephine Fuhrman Sonney. She was a graduate of East High School class of 1947 and worked for many years at GC Murphy’s as a personnel director.
Loraine was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She had numerous hobbies including knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and reading. She also loved to watch game shows and was a lively supporter of Penn State Football.
Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Wambsgans, her son Donald Wambsgans, II and her daughter-in-law Jacqueline Wambsgans.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Williams (Evan) of Elizabethville, and Cynthia Rohan (Michael) of Erie; six grandchildren, Heather Hough (Michael) of Rosemond, CA, Melissa Nowak (Jeffrey) of Erie, Dennis Rohan of State College, Charles Williams (Katelynn) of Harrisburg, John Williams of Oklahoma, and Matthew Wambsgans of Sacramento, CA; four great grandchildren, Dennis Rohan, Jr. and Adelaide Rohan of State College and Violet and Annalise Nowak of Erie.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Marsh and all of the wonderful staff at the Regional Cancer Center for the compassionate care Loraine received over the past 8 years.
Friends may call at Burton West Lake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue), Thursday from 3pm-7pm and are invited to a service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1002 Powell Ave, Friday at 10am.
