Lonzo Arrington, age 94 of Erie, died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at his residence.
He was born in Heidelberg, Miss. on February 18, 1921, son of the late Cleveland Arrington and Susanna McGill.
Lonzo was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed at Erie Malleable Iron for many years until his retirement. He was a charter member of the Morning Star Baptist Church, where he had also served as Deacon, usher, missionary and sang in the men’s choir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Deanna Stevens Arrington, his second wife, Emma Moore Arrington; 2 sons, Cleveland and Tracy Arrington; two grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; and a sister, Ollie Mae Carter.
Lonzo is survived by 3 daughters; Rose Meredith (Stephen) of Lampasas, Tx., Lois Arrington and Samantha Dykes, of Erie Pa, 2 sons Lonzo Jr and Bill Arrington, of Erie Pa, a granddaughter who he raised, Jessica Evans (Charles III), of Erie Pa, 2 step-children Lula Mae Mason (Hardy) and Luther Bounds,of Heildelberg Miss., many grandchildren, great-grand-children, nieces, nephews, and Christian friends.
Friends are invited to call on the family at Morning Star Baptist Church, on Friday from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm where a special service will be held by the deacons at 7:00pm and are invited to a service there on Saturday at 11:00 am with Amos Goodwine, Sr., officiating.
Arrangements entrusted to Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th St.
Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
