Lois Sisson Wilson Gordon, age 93, of Erie, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Millcreek Community Hospital.
She was born January 25, 1921 in Erie, daughter of the late Spencer Alec and Marguerite Nash Sisson.
She graduated with the first class at Erie Day School, attended Mercyhurst Seminary, graduated from Ashley Hall in Charleston, SC and Bradford Junior College in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
She served in the U.S. Navy during W W II as a Wave, in the United States Naval Communication Intelligence Organization.
Mrs. Gordon was an active member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir and served on many committees.
She was a member and past president of the Junior League of Erie, and served on many committees. She served on the board of Sarah A. Reed and the Lake Shore Fire Department.
She spent summers at Malletts Bay, Vermont. She had a great interest in reading, birds, gardening and sports, especially golf, tennis and all water sports.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: George Sisson in 2000 and Richard Sisson in 1990, her first husband John E. Wilson, and her second husband George S. Gordon.
Survivors include her two daughters: Sherril H. Wilson, of Stowe, Vermont; Julia M. Flower and her husband Charles, of Fairview; two grandchildren: Christopher Flower and Stephanie Flower; and two nephews: Joseph M. Sisson of San Diego, CA and Matthew Sisson of Virginia.
Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1070 Dutch Road on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Erie Cemetery.
