Lois Cox

Lois June Burger Cox, age 88, of Girard, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 2, 2016, peacefully at home.

She was born in Pittsburgh, on October 1, 1927, the daughter of the late Herbert and Matilda Burger.

She worked for 28 years as a meat clerk at Brown Brothers Grocery in Girard.

Lois was a member and did volunteer work at the Tri-Boro Senior Center in Fairview, and a member of the Girard American Legion and was a Gold Star Mother, and the Red Hats (the Little Red Hens).

Lois was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her.

She loved working in the garden, flower beds, doing crafts, and camping.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Alford L. Cox, a son, Forest L. Cox, brother, John Burger and a sister, Catherine Boswell.

She is survived by a daughter, June A. Lesko and husband, Jerry of Girard; three sons, Alford W. Cox and wife, Debbie of Cranesville; Kevin J. Cox of Girard, and Burt L. Cox and wife, Els of the Netherlands; a sister, Susan Ingram of Tallahasee, FL; two brothers, Thomas Burger and wife, Jean, Neil Burger and wife, Carol, all of Girard; nine grandchildren, Christina, David, Hannah, Jessica, Jennifer, Burt Jr., Heather, Kimberly and Allynn; and four great-grandchildren, David II., Christopher, Aria and Finley also survive.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street, Girard, on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and are invited to attend services there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Clyde Davis officiating.

Burial will be private at Girard Cemetery.
