Lloyd Heald

July 2, 1925 — June 5, 2012

     Lloyd E. Heald, 86, of Centerville, PA and formerly of Erie, died Tues., June 5, 2012 at the Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown, PA.  He was born July 2, 1925 in Cambridge Springs, PA son of the late Cleon and Mabel Shorts Heald.  He attended Cambridge Springs High School and was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army.  Following his military service, through the G.I. Bill, he furthered his education through career training in carpentry.  Mr. Heald was employed as a Lead Framing Foreman for Biebel Construction, Atlas Construction, and Luciano Builders for over 25 years, overseeing the construction of many of our Erie homes.  He later owned and operated  Heald Construction and was eventually joined by his son Reed who he assisted in the operation until his retirement in 1984.  He enjoyed golf, playing cards, bird watching, dancing (especially the polka), and visiting with friends with whom he was well-known for his hospitality.  Mr. Heald served as an Elder of the Grandview Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and more recently for the Cambridge Springs Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed talking to people about the "Hope of the Resurrection".
     He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene "Bee" Wilson Heald in 1999; and a brother, Earl Heald.
     Survivors include his wife, Juaquita Joy Glover Heald; three sons, Lloyd Reed Heald and wife Robin of Erie, Craig Heald of Columbia, MD and Douglas Doutt and wife Nina of Prattsville, AR; a daughter, DeVonne Jackson and husband Jonathan of Jamestown, NY; two brothers, Forest "Bud" Shorts and wife Gertrude of Erie and Ronald Heald and wife Katie of Springfield, MA; a sister, Wilma Jean Kramer and husband Roy of Saegertown, PA; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
     The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 until 5 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St., Erie.  A Memorial Discourse will be held at Cambridge Springs Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 412 McClellan St., Cambridge Springs, PA, Sunday at 3:30 p.m. with Elder James Kingsley officiating.  Private burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Cambridge Springs Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 412 McClellan St., Cambridge Springs, PA 16403; or to Crawford County Care Center, 20881 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, PA 16433.
