Linden Smith

     Linden M. Smith, 97, of Erie and formerly of Daly City, CA, died on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Elmwood Gardens.  He was born on April 1, 1920, in Erie, son of the late Leslie and Marie Shields Smith.  Mr. Smith earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University in 1945 and a master's degree in Accounting from the University of Denver, Denver, CO, in 1950.  He was a Certified Public Account working for the Internal Revenue Service for 25 years, serving in various parts of the country. 
     Mr. Smith was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.  He was an aerial gunner and performed combat duties in the North African campaign and the China-Burma-India theatre of operations.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Smith; a sister, Edna Nelson; and three brothers, Robert, Richard and Gerald Smith.
     Survivors include a daughter, Marcia L. Smith of Wilmington, NC.
     All are welcome to honor Linden's life at a Graveside Service in Erie Cemetery, Section 28, on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Richard A. Moyer will officiate.
