Linda Christensen

Linda Christensen, age 71, of Erie, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Erie on May 18, 1951 to the late Robert and Agnes Sturgeon. Linda was a McDowell High School Class of 1969 graduate and later went on to attend Spencer Hospital School of Nursing.  Linda naturally cared for others and spent the majority of her career as a registered nurse at Hamot Hospital, where she helped develop and manage the I.V. Therapy Team.  She eventually retired from her nursing career at St. Vincent Medical Center.

Linda’s greatest joy in life was her family.  Linda and her husband of 48 years raised three daughters together.  Linda, also referred to as “Mrs. C.” was a motherly figure to many.  She was known for her phenomenal home cooked meals and always providing a welcoming home to all those who visited.  Her all-time favorite activity to do was boating with her family and basking in the sun.  Other hobbies she enjoyed were gardening, baking, crafting, shopping, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.  Linda was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. 

Linda is survived by her husband Neil “Chip”, her daughters, Kelly Christensen, Mandi Christensen (Paul Oros), and Kara Barczyk. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Devon Christensen (Tamara Lasanta), Jerrod Jeffries, Jasen Bradshaw, Hayden and Isabella Barczyk; great granddaughter, Roszarie Christensen; siblings, Robert Sturgeon Jr. and his wife Karen, Barry Sturgeon and his wife Sue, sister-in-law Patricia Sturgeon; several nieces and nephews; as well as her beloved dog, Dude.

In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her brother, Gregory Sturgeon, and her son in law, Christopher Barczyk.

Friends are invited to call on the family Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott West Ridge Funeral Home, 3801 West Ridge Road, Erie.
