Everyone’s Grandma

Lillian Klimek Biggie, age 100, of Erie, passed away on July 14, 2018 at Saint Vincent Hospital.  She was born in Alexandria, KS on November 09, 1917, a daughter of the late John and Pauline Shank Klimek.

Lillian moved to Erie as a young woman.   While raising five children was her main occupation, she held various jobs in hotel/restaurants, Marx Toys, Lord’s, Filmore Lunch and Nut & Bolt.   She was a founding member of St. Jude the Apostle Church and belonged to the Millcreek American Legion Auxiliary, Post 773.   In her younger years, she taught new mothers how to take care of their babies.    She enjoyed harvesting fruits and vegetables. She volunteered at the election polls, Cub Scouts and was a den leader.

She was a loving, caring person who was strong and determined.  In her 100 years, she saw the making of our world, such advancements in technology and science and the changes in humanity.  She loved all without question.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lawrence F. Biggie; a sister Pauline Michaelson; brothers John, Emil, Roy, Fred and Ed Klimek; a sons-in-law Thomas Gresh and William Pelinsky; and a great grandson Johnathan.

Survivors include her children, Joyce A. Gresh of Fairview, Lawrence (Becki) Biggie of Hampton, SC, Carl (Joyce) Biggie of Erie, Marie Pelinsky of Erie, Vincent Biggie of Erie and step daughter Marian Hartley of Klamath Falls, OR.   She is further survived by 19 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

Friends may call on the family at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, on Wednesday July 18, 2018 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and attend services there on Thursday July 19th at 10am.  Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Girard.
